About Me
In addition to artistic endeavors, I also have a Master's degree in English with an emphasis in British Victorian and Romantic Literature (hence, the library in my home). I have always loved to read, study, and research. I especially love to study scripture. While in graduate school, I was the Editor-in Chief for the Astate English journal, Tributary, which won numerous awards from the Arkansas College Media Association including Journal of the Year and Editor of the Year.
I worked at my alma mater for 12.5 years before retiring in 2020. I began to experiment as an artist with oil pastels on the fence and garage in my backyard (see pictures in the "Cottage" section). I added colored pencils, acrylic paints and pens to my supplies and began making art in sketchbooks, then on wood pieces given to me by a neighbor, then on canvas.
I love beautiful things...clothes, furniture, architecture, jewelry, fashion, makeup, music, and literature...I also love "fun" things. I have a collection of fashionable sunglasses, gloves, fur coats, capes, jackets; lots of costume jewelry, and lovely things in my home. I also love flamingos, peacocks, and swans (beautiful birds) - you will see evidence of this in my home. The ornate Baroque and Rococo styles are my favorites (think Marie Antoinette...).
TRIVIA - I enjoy gardening, but I don't think I'm very good at it. I can drive a stick shift and am a pretty good shot with a revolver. I may look like a "girlie girl," but I have been a single mom most of my adult life, so I have learned to be smart and self-sufficient. I have a Master's degree in English (specializing in British Literature), and my Myers Briggs personality type is INTJ - the rarest in the world for a female.
